Just Say Hi!
disability inclusion in schools
Creating inclusive school cultures can be complex. Research shows that disability inclusion has immensely positive benefits for all students and staff – both academically, and from a socio-emotional learning standpoint.
Did you know 1 in 5 students in US schools have a documented disability?
“Just Say Hi!” is an award-winning PK-12 schoolwide disability inclusion curriculum and program created by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. It provides schools with an intentional, evidence-based pathway to disability inclusion, fostering learning in a welcoming environment. All students deserve a sense of belonging in an inclusive school community. Together, we can make this happen.
Research shows that students with disabilities are more likely to be bullied and face mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, decreased academic achievement, and health complaints. They also have higher absenteeism rates and lower graduation rates compared to their peers without disabilities.
The good news is that when evidence-based programs like our Just Say Hi! curriculum are implemented, students with and without disabilities experience improved social, emotional, and physical well-being. This benefits the entire school community!
